Blessing The Austell Community

At Austell First, we are on a mission for God to BLESS our community and the world.
United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. The founder of the Methodist movement, John Wesley, described this work in simple, practical  terms:
"Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can."

Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling. Austell First blesses our community:

Community Partnerships:

Christian Aid Mission Partnership (CAMP)
We supply financial support. Church members volunteer at the clothes closet and food pantry. We give school supplies each August. We provide Easter baskets for low income families. We provide plastic grocery bags and mayonnaise throughout the year. CAMP partners with us on our Backpack BLESSings student weekend feeding program.

Austell Primary School
We are an official Partner in Education with this school that is located next door to the church. We host Teacher Appreciation Lunches twice a year. We volunteer at their annual Fall Festival, PTA meetings and student achievement events. Church members are reading mentors for students. We lead a prayer event at the school at the beginning of the school year. We worked closely with the school to aid 16 families devastated by the 2009 flood.

United Methodist Committee on Relief
UMCOR is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of The United Methodist Church.  UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States. It’s mission, grounded in the teachings of Jesus, is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster, with open hearts and minds to all people. UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters that are interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own. UMCOR is currently working in our area to help us recover from the historic 2009 floods.

Imagine No Malaria is an initiative of the people of The United Methodist Church to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015. Every 45 seconds an innocent child in Africa dies from malaria (800,000 people a year!). Every year, there are about
250 million malaria cases (that’s slightly less than
the US population) Malaria is a preventable disease.
In partnership with our brothers and sisters in Africa, the gifts and resources shared through Imagine No Malaria will empower an entire continent to achieve a sustainable victory over the disease. We will accomplish this goal together with a comprehensive approach to fighting malaria that includes improving prevention, education, communication and treatment.

One approach is to provide bed nets. Just $10 purchases an anti-malaria bed net. Bed nets work in two ways: They stop mosquitoes from biting during the night and spreading the disease, and the insecticide on the net kills mosquitoes when they land on it.
