Rev. Michael Martin
Senior Pastor

I have been a full-time minister since July of 1989. I was ordained a Deacon in 1990 and a Full Elder in 1992. Prior to entering full-time ministry I served as a part-time local pastor while attending school, a Hospice social worker at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Georgia,  and a Coordinator for a Senior Services Agency in Fulton and Dekalb counties.

My educational background consists of a BA in Psychology from Augusta State University and a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. The rest of my education has come from life experiences in the ministry and in the health care and human services field prior to making the move to ministry.

I have served the Mayfield Charge, Associate at Haygood Memorial, Senior Pastor at Buchanan, Walnut Grove, Suwanee First, Level Creek and New Covenant United Methodist Churches. I was appointed to Austell First in June of 2011. I have a passion for people, a heart for missions and a love of preaching.

I have a wonderful wife, Karen, and two fine sons, Wesley age 27, a police officer in Augusta, Georgia and Ryan age 22, a recent graduate of the University of Denver.
